Modular Data System

MDC develop and build modular data centers in steel for the global market. Modules conform to 40-ft ISO container standards and can be easily shipped.

Splitvisions task was to translate the abstract key values: flexibility, performance and reliability into a physical product. Our choice was to go Mil. Spec. – strictly function, combining heavy duty and high tech. The interior, which is built around the server racks, was created around MDC’s idea of feeding direct air into the rack walls.

The result was a fully modular system that can be transported flat packed and assembled in minutes by snapping the parts together. For the interior we did both design and engineering, complete with production drawings and full scale steel prototypes of the rack system.

The project is an industrial joint venture between MDC Stockholm AB and SSAB. The inflatable command module is developed by Lindstrand Technologies.
